The company best-known for its affordable but high-quality smartphones recently announced its first drone, right after launching a smart rice cooker, and now it has unveiled an electric bicycle.
The Mi QiCYCLE Electric Folding Bike is — as you can guess from the name — also foldable. It comes with a 250W, 36V motor and packs 20 Panasonic lithium-ion batteries alongside Xiaomi’s own battery management system. The bicycle uses Panasonic 18650mAh battery which can provide users cycle up to 45km on a single charge.
Xiaomi revealed that the Qicycle can be paddled with the aid of Shimano Gear Shifters even after the bicycle runs out of battery. The Chinese company confirmed that the Qicycle can measure fitness-related parameters such as calories burned, distance traveled, and traveling speed. Xiaomi is yet to reveal whether the Qicycle will launch outside China.
Looking at features and price, the Mi QiCycle Electric Folding Bike certainly seems like a good deal. For 2,999 yuan (that’s around $455) users get a bike that can assist the rider’s pedaling for 45 kilometers on a single charge, and comes with a companion app that logs your distance, speed, GPS location, calories burned, and more. The QiCycle also has Shimano three-speed gears, folds down into a (relatively) compact package that weighs 14.5 kilograms, and has front and rear lights built into its frame.
